For your consideration is a pair of Acoustic Research AR3a loudspeakers. The cabinets are in very nice condition with only minor surface wear and a few minor blemishes consistent with age. They look very nice and clean in person. Both of the woofers are in need of repair or replacement. The foam surround on both drivers are rotted. The woofers work but have a little bit of a buzzing or rattling sound. This may be fixed by re-foaming them but I’m not 100% sure. All of the drivers work although the midrange on one speaker can only be heard if you play around with the midrange control on the back of the speaker… Probably due to a dirty pot. One speaker appears to have had the midrange and tweeter replaced with newer AR units at some point. They are the correct drivers and sound just like the other speaker but have the newer style AR logo’s on the driver. These are a great candidate for restoration because of their clean cosmetic appearance.
