Pair of Acoustic Research AR-2ax Speakers from the original owner! I was told that they were fully working until one woofer started buzzing in the late 1990’s. The speakers were put away in a closet since. I removed the front grille covers which were held on by the original glue. I noticed one woofer sounded loose and when I removed it I was able to move the paper cone in and out by hand and it seems as though the voice coil has partially unraveled inside the speaker. I BRIEFLY connected them to an amplifier to test AND AT A LOW VOLUME. One woofer was of curse buzzing, the other seemed to be working properly. I was unable to get sound from either tweeter or mid-range. When adjusting the potentiometers on the back they felt very gritty and rough to turn. These would be a great pair for restoration as the cabinets and cloth grilles are in good condition and appear original. Please feel free to ask any questions. These speakers will be packed well.
