For sale: a rare pair of Acoustic Research AR-3A Improved vintage loudspeakers, in beautiful teak finish. Forgive me the exaggerated terms and many superlatives in this advertisement (good wine needs no bush), but in this case they are justified. A seriously interested person knows enough, but this specific set deserves some further explanation. I recently acquired them from the first owner, who had them dry & safe in the living room since he bought them new. He took good care of them, as became clear by the following; the original brochure, guarantee certificate, manual and other papers are still present, which in itself may be called rare documents. But what really surprised me: the felt feet are still there, untouched in the original paper packaging! I have renewed the woofer surrounds with new ones that have been developed specifically for this woofer. When I bought the speakers, the surrounds were almost completely perished, which was to be expected given the age. This is the only (insurmountable) upgrade, other than that the speakers are completely original. The cabinets are also surprisingly tidy, although there are the usual traces of use. So do not expect a new look, but rather a very good basis to make something perfect with only little work. The most important thing is that they function 100% properly.
