For your consideration is a nice pair of vintage ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-2AX 3-WAY SPEAKERS. Overall condition is very good and all original. Serial numbers: AX55107 & AX55208. Pots feel somewhat rough – three of the four work with no response/sound from one super-tweeter, so i do not know if it is the pot or tweeter. The woofers are original and produce a nice, deep bass. Cabs are quite good and present well as-is but would spruce up even better with a light cleaning/oiling. The top of one speaker has some’welting’ along the grain, but this is not at all overt and can only be seen at certain angles. I have attempted to exaggerate this in one photo showing the surface from two angles. The bottoms of both have wear that could easily be cleaned up. Grill cloth has aging including snags; missing both badges. A perfect replacement material, Charles Craft 28 count Tea Dyed Irish Linen, is available at Michael’s craft stores at a very reasonable price.
