Classic American designed, British made, bookshelf speakers, refurbished, in very good condition and full working order. The AR-7 was a landmark design, introduced in 1973, that used the acoustic suspension principle pioneered by AR, to produce a small speaker capable of the sort of bass that had previously only been possible in a larger enclosure. It’s main driver used a very compliant foam surround, its movement damped by the air in a sealed box. Hifi News did a retrospective review in 2015 and rated the AR-7 very highly still (I can send the link). They are recommended for use with amplifiers 15W RMS or higher, measure 247 x 400 x 146mm, and have impedance of 8 ohms. The have a real walnut finish. Like all AR-7s, the original foam driver surrounds had disintegrated, and I have replaced them with new surrounds designed for this model, and given them new gaskets. I have also replaced the old electrolytic capacitors in the crossover with polypropylene film types. They sound excellent; the bass is still really impressive in modern terms, and they have a neutral balance with excellent dynamics.
