VINTAGE ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR 2a SPEAKER PAIR ONE OWNER. They are Model 2a speakers. The serial numbers are: 48269 and 62602. Rather they were Christmas presents to myself in consecutive years, 1962 and 1963 I believe. After college these speakers were used in our homes until the late 1990s. We retired and relocated in 2000. Our new home had a built-in, multi-room speaker setup and the AR 2a speakers were never hooked up. They have been stored in a guest room closet. The following is some basic technical specification information obtained from on-line sources. 1 x 1.375 dome tweeter. 2 x 5 cone midrange. 1 x 10 cone woofer. Frequency Response: 42 to 20,000. Crossover Frequency: 2,000, 7,500 cps. Amplifier Power: 20 watts minimum. Size: 13 ½ (H) x 24 (W) x 11 ½ (D). The grill cloths are original. There are no major tears, but some fraying is evident. The cabinet finish is oiled walnut. There are some surface blemishes, not surprisingly the bottoms show the most wear. Overall, I believe the condition is very good to excellent. We are careful with our things and these speakers have been well cared for. Please look at the photos carefully.
