Restored AR90 Teledyne Acoustic Research Speakers. For sale are my restored pair of Acoustic Research AR90 speakers. For many these are the Holy Grail, bettered only by the AR9 speakers which are essentially the same thing but with 12″ instead of 10″ woofers. In summary here’s what’s been done. Refoamed all 4-10 woofers. Refoamed the 2-8 lower midranges. I applied Mortite caulking to the mid and woofer to dampen the frames; this reduces any resonance or potential ringing. Added a brace to the inside of the cabinet to minimize front-rear vibration and resonance. Upgraded the tweeter and upper midrange capacitors with modern polyfilm components. Installed larger binding posts to handle larger wire. Oiled and waxed the cabinets. All grills are included and are in excellent condition. The only flaw on these is that one has some marring on the top right / rear corner of the cabinet (see close up picture). Here’s a link to a site that gives the details and specs on the AR90’s.
