For sale An awesome set of vintage 1969 AR 2ax 3 way speakers. In some ways they are a mini AR3 as they use the same tweeter and slightly smaller 10 woofer. I sanded up the walnut cabinets which were sealed with danish oil. Grill fabric was changed out with Irish Linen and AR badges applied. I also installed new Dayton/Bennic film capacitors to replace the ancient capacitors which opened up the tweeter and mid range significantly. The Low end on these are quite remarkable. I was amazed as I was listening to some Miles Davis this evening. After much research I chose to bypass the troublesome potentiometers aka controls for the tweeter and installed a new lpad on the mid range to control the output as it tends to overwhelm the tweeter. You can adjust on your receiver as well if need be. These are heavy speakers. If you are into vintage east coast sound from the famous Henry Kloss these are fir you.
