The Acoustic Research AR-2AX speakers are high-quality vintage units known for their exceptional sound performance. New caps, controls clean, speaker re-glued. Cabinets look good with some minor issues. Grill ok but dirty. Typically i can part these out for more than i can sell, but hate to do that to these.

2 Speakers 3way speakers. 10 inch woofers with tweeter and mid range. Woofers were re-coned about ten tears ago and used lightly since then. The sound is excellent. The pot controls need cleaned or replaced. Cabinets are in good shape. One side on each speaker has some light scratches from using in horizontal position, but still display very nicely. The first generation AR2AX with cloth surrounds and phenolic resin dome tweeter are the best all around value of the vintage AR models, and you get it all in this particular pair; low serial numbers (49991/57492), both AR inc. And script A badges in their respective corners, all rear panel papers intact, outstanding cabinets, and all original grill cloth and drivers. Over time vintage AR speakers with the heavy insulation blanket will need to have the pots cleaned. This pair has never had the grills pried off the front. 1st generation AR speakers are stapled. I recently broke an AR4X frame and concluded my caveman like dexterity will virtually ensure the cloth will fray or frame will break and I can’t risk the trauma associated with mauling these pristine grills.
