Pair of vintage Acoustic Research AR-4x speakers in original walnut cabinets. Serial numbers: FX331661 FX331800 Both retain their original. Acoustic Research badges. Grille cloth. Rear level controls. Factory identification/instruction labels The speakers are in good vintage cosmetic condition overall. The cabinets show normal scratches/scuffs and wear consistent with age. The original rear paper labels show deterioration and tearing, which can be seen clearly in the photographs. These speakers have not been tested because my current audio setup is not readily accessible. No attempt has been made to restore, refinish, or modify the cabinets. Good overall cosmetic condition for age with normal scratches and wear to the walnut cabinets. Original rear labels have age-related deterioration and tearing. Please review all photographs.

Speakers have been tested and work. Cosmetically could use a nice sand and restrain. They would look brand new.

Overall speaker is in nice working condition for its age. It sound beautiful though the increase and decrease knob in the back sometime has some static while trying to fine tune the sound but still works well. 1 of the grill is missing the logo tag. Also please see picture 10 as it missing 1 bolt that hold the speaker wire tight in place though you can just wrap them speaker round it. General these flaws are very minor. Please ask questions if needed.

AR-4x Condition Block (Blond Birch / FX72617 & 18). Overall Condition: Excellent vintage condition with fully functional drivers and preserved acoustic-suspension integrity. Cabinets retain its original birch veneer (blond finish) with clear lacquer intact and no refinishing. Veneer shows only light, age-appropriate wear consistent with late-1960s AR production. Tweeter produces clean high-frequency output across all program material. Controls: Tweeter level control rotates smoothly and responds properly. No dead spots or intermittent dropouts. Crossover & Internal Components: Original crossover network intact. No evidence of non-factory modifications, replacement drivers, or modern parts. Cabinet: Factory birch veneer with authentic blond finish. Edges, corners, and seams remain tight. Grill frame solid and square. Grill Cloth: Original AR linen-style cloth with uniform color and no tears. After Market size appropriate badges included. Testing: Speakers have been load-tested at moderate listening levels. No distortion, rattles, or cabinet resonance. Acoustic seal remains tight, confirming proper AR-4x low-frequency performance. This unit retains its factory birch veneer, original drivers, acoustic-seal warning label, and correct late-run AR typography. A clean, authentic example of one of AR’s most respected acoustic-suspension designs. ? Cabinet & Finish. Factory birch veneer (blond finish). Clear lacquer intact; no refinishing.
