Works but needed some TLC. Close serial numbers –> see pictures. I got them from a church. As you could see there’s some sign of them being suspended from the ceiling. The holes didn’t go all the way through the wood. That being said it affect the sound of the speakers. Will definitely be needing some TLC. These speakers are older than me and the surround has deteriorated and the pentiometer needed some cleaning or needed to be replaced. 1 grill broke in half. Please INBOX me for any question. Please check out my other gears. Thanks and good day!

ACOUSTIC RESEARCH: AR3A Original Speakers Close Pair Working w/ Stands. Close Pair of AR 3As. Serial Number #06845, #06848. These were pulled from an audiophile estate. They were hooked up when we removed them. They sound amazing, and we demod them in our own warehouse. They are in working order. My assumption is that they were re-coned at some point, all components are original, and they are very clean. There is some light typical wear to the walnut, a few water spots, etc. Included are original AR stands. Our warehouse is located in downtown Baltimore, with easy loading. Actual photos, not a stock image. Yes, we accept Best Offers. During this challenging time, our first priority is fulfilling orders. Sometimes we do not get a chance to reply to offers. If your offer is low, you may not get a reply. NEW International, Effective 2/1/20. I will not be held responsible for delays, mishaps, or failures caused by your Postal Service. We visually grade with Goldmine Standards unless otherwise noted. We generally clean LPs that are in need of cleaning using a VPI 16.5. Have records you want to sell? _gsrx_vers_859 GS 7.0.21 (859). If you are a collector, looking for a museum quality all original pair of these, this is the pair! Very close serial #’s AX 10551 & AX 10542. These are a 100% untouched all original pair. Original boxes and packing included. They are in excellent condition for their age, or any age! They sound great and have the treated cloth surrounds, so the grills have never been removed! The original factory paper labels are still intact on the backs! The all original pots are a little touchy but work fine once you mess with them. PLEASE look at all the pictures for their exact condition, they are nice! I have cut and pasted some specs and information below. Chasrock Services is proud to be. (ISTA 6-FEDEX_A Protocol Certified). This is a registered certification in electronic packaging. They put that package through rigorous testing including the following. Shock Test: (10 random drops from 30 Inches). Compression Test: The package is then tested in a press at 976.94 lbs. Vibration Test: The package is then put on a vibration table and violently shaken for 45 minutes. You must pass all three tests without any damage, cosmetically or functionality. I think it’s worth a few extra bucks, because they can’t be replaced. Pride myself on extreme over protective packaging. Please see my feedback! If you need more time, just send a message and we will work something out. The Acoustic Research 2x and 2ax (AR-2x / AR-2ax) are based on the design of the AR-3a, but were marketed as a value product, which means price played a crucial role. Therefore it contains most of the typical elements and ingredients as the high-priced Acoustic Research speakers, but has a slightly lower performance. AR-2x / AR-2ax Differences: The AR-2ax is a 3-way acoustic suspension speaker, meaning that its cabinets are completely sealed. The AR-2x is a 2-way acoustic suspension speaker which does not have the 1 3/8 in dome-type super-tweeter of the AR-2ax. The AR-2ax is a lower-cost version of our basic acoustic suspension design. It contains the 254mm woofer and 19 mm hemispherical dome, for very high frequencies, used in the AR-5. The midrange is covered by an 89 mm wide-dispersion cone unit. Separate controls on the back of the AR-2ax permit independent adjustment of the level of the midrange and high-frequency speakers. (1960/70ies Acoustic Research brochure) Sometimes the trim pots (the little tone controls on the rear) need to be sprayed with tuner cleaner or “Detoxit”. These controls usually have poor internal contacts due to age- this causes tweeter or midrange drop outs. Once you address these issues, you have a well made (VERY well made, actually) solid (Very solid) speaker that sounds very respectable. Place them on 1 foot high stands, 7 or 8 feet apart, at least 2 feet away from back and side walls toe them in a bit and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at their performance. I have run them with 15 watt tube amplifiers (Pilot 232) and 200WPC solid state units and found them to be listenable long term, with good fidelity and few flaws. Sort of: current speakers present greater speed and detail, but often unless they are used with the right cable/interconnect/amp they can sound too detailed. Real music played live doesn’t sound shrill or peaked. So, if you come across some yard sale AR2AX’s at cheap cost, give them a try. You may be very surprised! Drive units: 10 in acoustic suspension woofer, 3 ½ in midrange cone, 1 3/8 in mm high frequency hemispherical dome Crossover: 1400 Hz, 5000 Hz Impedance: 8 Ohms nominal Controls: Midrange and high-frequency driver level controls Amplifier: Up to 100 watts per channel Size: 13.5 x 24 x 11.5 in Weight: 36.5 lbs Woofer resonance: Free air 26 Hz, in enclosure 56 Hz Volume of enclosure: 38.2 litres (1.35 cu ft). I decided to sell my AR-9 speakers. We are moving and its a tight fit. They come with Original Boxes. This set is a one owner pair. Cabinets are beautiful, with some light scratches from age. Very hard to see. The woofers need surrounds, which I will leave for the new owner to do. As they are, they look fantastic and sound great. Even so, these are almost 50 years old Electronics. I will audition them at that time. The item “AR9 Acoustic Research Audiophile Speakers With Original Boxes Close Serials” is in sale since Friday, October 18, 2019.
