Shelf mounted, original padded bumpers installed. One of the best AR4X’s I have ever found. EARLY CLOSE SERIAL NUMBERS! Extremely Nice Looking Speaker Cabinets and Sound Quality! Original mounting pads are still somewhat present on woofer bottoms. Matched Set of speakers and crossover components. EARLY PRODUCTION PLYWOOD MODEL. Speakers have been thoroughly tested and sound fantastic. Tweeter adjustment pots clean and noise free. NEW MIL Grade CAPS installed since original wax caps were way out of tolerance. ORIGINAL Grills and Badges are in excellent condition. No stains, No tears. Cabinets are in excellent condition, please examine pictures for acceptance of condition. Acoustic Research AR-4X Speakers Vintage Circa 1965/66 Highly Rated

VINTAGE ACOUSTIC RESEARCH SPEAKERS. Serial numbers: FX 140835, FX140898. Oiled walnut cases with AR fabric grill covers. Date of manufacture Late 1965 to early 1966. There are some scratches and marks on the cabinets. Grille cloth covers have not been removed so the cloth speaker surrounds have not been evaluated but they should be fine seeing the cloth surrounds are virtually indestructible. They havent been connected to a sound source so performance is unknown. THE PRICE IS BASED ON THE SPEAKERS RESTORATIVE QUALITY. Weight : 19 lbs Each. Acoustic Research AR2A, RARE UNFINISHED BIRCH CABINET, HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE

Serial numbers D5784 and D3242. Tweeter controls were totally refurbished and operate properly. Existing lead cased crossover Capacitors were tested and found to be to specifications. Woofers Inspected and resealed with Vintage AR Surround Sealant and now look and operate like they should. These speakers are totally complete and all original sound like they did in the Showroom. Beautiful and clean original Grills and Badges. Birch Unfinished Cabinets are in extremely nice condition, please review pictures. Rare chance for you to finish them any way you want, or what your wife may want. Technically the speakers are performing as originally manufactured. The concept which expanded the horizons of high fidelity by creating new standards of bass response and low harmonic distortion, is utilized in this moderately-priced 4-speaker system. The 10 woofer is essentially flat to 42 cps (-10 dB at 30 cps). Harmonic distortion at 40 cps is a mere 3%. Two 5 cone units in dispersed array range from 2000 to 7500 cps. The unique AR Super-Tweeter raises the response beyond 20,000 cps. This hemispherical radiator is without rival for smoothness, low dispersion characteristics and virtually flawless transient response. As a result, the AR2a has received accolades and applause from audio experts and won renown for setting new standards of excellence in its field. 1 x 1,375 dome tweeter. 2 x 5 cone midrange. 1 x 10 cone woofer.
