For sale is an excellent pair of legendary Acoustic Research AR-3 speakers in rare mahogany finish. I have confirmed that the woofers are working properly. Unfortunately, it suffers the typical pot corrosion issues that will need to be clean and maybe the crossover capacitor upgrade. I was able to confirm all drivers are working by playing with the pots. I partially lift the top of the grilles off to show the inside but did not remove the grilles. Cabinets do have few flaws as pictured. It is heavy and will be packed very carefully for transport. If you have any further questions or would like more pictures, feel free to send a message!

Speaker stands Acoustic Research inspired. One pair (two stands), A. These have been assembled and sanded with 150 grit sand paper. Unfinished, ready to be finished by you. They are 11 inches tall and 14 x 13 inches measured at the most outer point on the legs. The stands come in four separate pieces, they interlock to become two stands. Sapele Reddish brown in color. Overall a very uniformly colored wood. Very similar in appearance and workability to mahogany. The wood displays a beautiful chatoyance. The grain will shift as your perspective changes. Occasional quilted, curly and or mottled figure can be present. A significant up charge is typical for figured material. Material is often sorted for ribbon stripe which would consist of the quarter and rift sawn boards a moderate up charge for the ribbon material. Acoustic Research AR-1 Speaker. In overall good original condition. The finish on the mahogany cabinet shows some age and may need refinishing. The Altec 755a driver is present and looks to be in good shape. I was able to take some photos of the drivers without removing the grill which is glued on and won’t easily come off. I can remove the grill to take better photos upon request. I tested this speaker with a modest Marantz set-up and it sounds amazing, far better than the Spica tc-50 speakers I’m used to hearing in my living room. The item “Acoustic Research AR-1 Speaker.
