The Acoustic Research AR-3a is a landmark acoustic suspension bookshelf speaker introduced in the late 1960s, widely regarded as one of the most influential loudspeakers in hi-fi history. Acoustic Research AR-3a speaker set. All drivers are in working condition. Tweeters are correct spec. Rear level potentiometers work. As far as I know the crossover capacitors are original. Cabinets have an oil rub finish and are in very good condition for their age but do have a few dings, etc. A previous owner did engrave information in the backs of both cabinets. Rear paper spec sheets are in good condition. Grill cloth and badges are in good shape, grill frames are replacement plastic instead of the original pressboard. Please see pictures for full cosmetic details. I currently have these wrapped in towels and put away so requests for additional pictures may take me a little time. I will try to answer any questions in a timely manner.

Up for sale is a used pair of Acoustic Research AR-11 speakers. The speakers have been fully refurbished, new grills, new capacitors, new woofer foam(professionally done), and new 5 way binding posts installed. The cabinets do show some signs of age, there are spots on one of the tops which look like a problem with the polyurethane, there are some dings and scratches throughout both cabinets. The bottom of the cabinets have some missing wood veneer(see photos), you can’t see this defect unless you look under the speakers. The serial numbers are off by almost 1000, so the rear terminals look a bit different from each other. At some point AR decided to change the layout of the terminal plate. This doesn’t affect the sound, all the internal components match properly. Overall the speakers look good for their age, these are pretty rare and don’t come up for sale very often. They do sound really good, they have that classic east coast sound that AR is well known for. I’m located 1 hour south of Syracuse NY and 1 hour north of Binghamton.

Up for sale is a used pair of Acoustic Research AR48s. Both speakers have been refurbished, the midrange and woofer in both speakers have been professionally re-foamed. Overall the speakers are in decent shape, the cabinets do show some signs of use. There are a couple dings, dents and scratches(see photos for reference). Both speakers are in fully working condition.
