Vintage 1960’s AR-2 a speakers. You know you want them! Please don’t miss this listing… IF YOU LIVE EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI, IT WILL LIKELY BE LESS. I’M WILLING TO MEET UP WITH YOU…. I have given you many more photos below so please scroll down. These AR speakers are a 1 owner pair. They have outstanding drivers behind those grilles. The AR2a’s dont show up that often. Great speaker and a tremendous value when compared to the skyrocketing AR3 pricing. Capture the AR sound for much less. These clearly started life as “unfinished” cabinets from AR when new. The owner finished them with some tinted varnish. He did a great job on one… The other, not so much. I’m guessing there was something like oil on the cabinet or in his mixture. The cabinet sides are smooth to the touch….. The finish applied to them is dappled. Both speakers were tested and both play. But as always with AR speakers, they of course need new pots for the mid and high frequency controls (Crunchy). You wont have tweeter and mid sound until you tend to the potentiometer controls. This is standard operating procedure for AR speakers. I’m not going to remove the grilles. But I do wish I could to show you the condition of the drivers. Looking through the grille cloth with a flashlight I see that the ribbed surrounds on the mids are still shiny black. No dust or corrosion on the baskets. The tweeters and woofers are beautiful. These are definitely worth your time. I’m going to let the photos do the talking on this one. Examine all the high resolution photos below. Last note that the owner added feet to the bottom of each cabinet (see photo below). I removed them but I didn’t toss them. Nobody will pack speakers better than right here, no worries. Pro packing is my specialty – examine my feedback. Please study all the photos below. C’mon you know you want them! Condition is VG- or better. Wear and tear from the decades. 1 Pair Acoustic Research AR LST-2 Speakers, completely restored 2 years ago by a top AR restorer in the New England area! Cosmetically the cabinets have a few small dings and nicks here and there, but overall present very well, walnut finish is excellent, you have to look very closely to see blemishes. Performance is excellent, as new or better. They sound excellent and work flawlessly. Please do your own research, I assume if you’re looking at these, you know what they are. The little brother to the famous LST, just with a 10 inch woofer and one less tweeter and mid per speaker. This is what was done 2 years ago, and they’ve been babied since I bought them, everything’s the same today. When I say new, I mean upon restoration 2 years ago. New grill frames and new reproduction grill cloth matching original AR material and color. New reproduction logo plates and Spectral balance plates. Crossovers completely rebuilt with original value components, resoldered everything! Spectral Balance Controls disassembled, cleaned, relubed, work perfect. All 6 total tweeters are NOS AR equivalent replacements, extensively tested. All 6 midranges were completely rebuilt, tested and perform like new. Woofers were refoamed, spiders centered and tested.
