These vintage Acoustic Research AR-3 speakers are a rare find for any audiophile. The speakers were made in the United States and are of the unit type. The brand Acoustic Research is known for their high-quality audio equipment, and these speakers are no exception. They are perfect for vintage audio and video enthusiasts and collectors. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to add these rare AR-3 speakers to your collection. These AR3 speakers were found in my local savers store, consecutive numbers 39208 and 39209, I didn’t hesitate on getting them cause the price was right lol, took them home and sadly they didn’t worked as I spected and because the price was right i decided to give it a full restoration. Started by pulling the grills off, it was a nightmare, I started with the woofers, they were removed and they were fully redone using the original original cones and foams then I removed the mids and highs and sent them to be done by the master Roy Champagne in New York, cabinets were touched a bit as well, pots were totally apart and cleaned, crossover fully redone and finally a new made frames with new KLH fabric speakers I had laying around. The results are amazing!!!! They’re ready for some more decades of fine music. After 6 months of listening I think i’m ready to let them go, they deserve a home where they can sing every day.. Speakers are in beautiful condition, they have been recapped, refoamed and troublesome bots in the back have been replaced. They sound fantastic and come in their original box in good shape as well! They are almost like time capsules. Can demo in Quincy MA.

Evaluate and test one pair of Acoustic Research hifi speakers. S/n 43120 and 43122. Midrange driver not working on S/N 43120. Found that driver would work when taken out of circuit. Low frequency driver to expose crossover. With poor soldering and connections. Two bad connections and cleaned/ re-soldered connections, due. This speaker are tested as working at this time, after two poor. Also noted that several caps and resistors were non-OEM in the. The two resistors are 25ohm/10w, but OEM spec is. Vintage Acoustic Research AR 2x Speakers. Cabinets have Original AR finish and grilles / tweeter level pots, woofers, and crossovers were rebuilt. Drivers are sealed with original gaskets and flexible sealant were needed. Top Quality Restoration Work. I did the best I could to get them back to their original looks, performance, and sound = SOUND GREAT! The work was done FALL 2025 and the speakers have 1-2 hours of use after the rebuild. They will sound better with use (after initial break in period) as the new woofer cone surrounds loosen up.

For sale is a pair of Acoustic Research AR-48b speakers. These speakers have just been restored with new foam surrounds and new capacitors. The bottoms of the speakers have some scratches, but all other sides are in near mint condition. Grill cloth is original and in excellent condition. It will be difficult to find a pair of -48b’s that are in better condition than this pair. They sound excellent: a truly great pair of speakers from Acoustic Research. For your consideration is a nearly mint condition pair of Acoustic Research AR9 speakers. The speakers have undergone a thorough restoration by Muse Audio of Ann Arbor, MI and are in perfect working condition. These were AR’s flagship model at the time and sound amazing. All low range drivers have had the surrounds professionally redone. The original crossovers have been rebuilt with high quality components and all controls have been cleaned and are functioning properly. Cosmetically the cabinets are in excellent condition. This is the cleanest pair of AR9s we have ever seen. The drivers likely have very low use on them. They were used so little that that even the grille cloth is in almost perfect condition with no tears or holes. Here is some shallow scratching on top of one of the cabinets that is difficult to see without shining a light on it at the proper angle (see photos). These speakers have undergone a thorough electrical and cosmetic restoration by Muse Audio of Ann Arbor, MI and sound fantastic. The cabinets are in near mint condition. The crossovers have been rebuilt with high quality components and the cloth has been redone. All drivers are original but have been thoroughly tested and restored / re-surrounded where necessary. The potentiometers which nearly always fail due to corrosion have been replaced with high quality new production potentiometers. The stands are made of heavy welded steel. Up for sale is a used pair of Acoustic Research AR3a speakers with original Alnico magnet woofers. The speakers have been fully refurbished, new grill cloth, new capacitors, new potentiometers(L-pads), proper sealant applied to woofer surround, and replaced rock wool with new insulation. All parts sourced from Vintage-AR’s store. The cabinets are in great condition overall, the bottoms do have some old paint that stuck to the cabinets from the shelf where these sat on for nearly their entire life. It is hard to find a pair in this condition. The speakers sound great and are in fully working condition. Due to the size and weight of the speakers I can only sell them locally. I’m located 1 hour south of Syracuse NY and 1 Hour north of Binghamton NY. I’m also willing to meet half way(up to 50-75 miles).
