PAIR OF ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-4 SPEAKERS. TRY THEM IN YOUR HOME FOR 30 DAYS. These AR small book shelf speakers were one of the best made. Clear upper end and amazing deep bass. WE HAVE NOT LISTED A PAIR OF THESE IN A LONG TIME. Surrounds on both cloth woofers have been treated and sealed with sealant like the original and only offered by VINTAGE-AR. The cabinets have been lightly sanded, stained, two finish coats applied and then hand buffed to a silky finish. Two small chips on the rear corners of one speaker have been repaired. Excepting this, there are no scratches, dings, chips or missing veneer. We have taken photos of all surfaces for your inspection. The grilles are a pair of our nice replacements with Irish Linen along with our replacement logo plates. Fully tested with test equipment and a music source. The AR-4 speaker is 19 x 10 x 9 inches, 16 lbs. If you want a pair that sound like fresh from the factory and looks almost like new, these are for you. These will arrive safely. TOTALLY RESTORED PAIR OF ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-LST SPEAKERS by VINTAGE-AR. THESE ARE EXCEPTIONAL IN ALL WAYS. FOR VERY SERIOUS MUSIC APPRECIATION. Our restoration objective is to return a pair of speakers to as like new condition as possible. They must perform to the original AR specifications and the cabinets must be suitable for display in your music room. We generally have a customer waiting for a pair of these. It’s been 3-4 years since we have listed a pair for sale. This is the last pair we plan on restoring. The woofers have new surrounds and were replaced and the voice coils centered by AR. Why is this important? Tweeters and mids are rear plug-in terminal design, allowing easy replacement if ever necessary. Also, late production crossover capacitors are Sprague Electric which measure like new and we have never found a failure. Only one cabinet has the Serial number tag, #2226. All drivers were individually tested with test equipment and a music source. The tweeters were tested against a “like new” reference and three rebuilt with new voice coils and suspensions. Even, the fuses have been replaced with New Old Stock originals. The grille frames and cloth are our new reproductions. The cloth is an off white imported linen with the little “slubs” that run up and down the cloth. The logo plates, Spectral Balance Control plates and control knobs are original and excellent. The cabinets have been completely refinished, lightly sanded, stained, new oil finish applied and hand rubbed. A few scratches remain on the bottoms. Otherwise, the cabinets are perfect, with nice sharp corners and hand rubbed to a silky finish. We have taken critical pictures so you can judge the condition yourself. Extensively tested with test equipment and a music source. You will be impressed. From AR: The AR Laboratory Standard Transducer was designed for professional applications. It offers the recording engineer a quantitative standard for the monitoring of recording and mix-down operations. In addition the LST offers a choice of six different energy output characteristics.
