All original pair, but usable as is. Original finish on cabinets, in very good condition for its age, with only minor dings, scratches. Refoamed woofers, with the correct filleted style ultra compliant surround, and rebuilt pots/controls so no scratchy ness or dead spots. Unrestored Acoustic Research AR5 Vintage 3-way Speakers. These look to be original, unmolested survivors. One tweeter is missing its voice coil and will require repair or replacing. L havent opened the speakers up to investigate further other than to take out the damaged tweeter at which time I saw the original fiberglass stuffing is intact. The woofers have been refoamed at some point. They look and play well. The midranges look to be all original and also look and play well. The pots on both speakers are both fully intact and are functional but need cleaned. The walnut cabinets are well above average with mostly sharp corners and no major flaws. Some nicks and some scratches as you might expect but no deep gouges, split wood or corner seperation. The grilles are original and in really nice condition. One grille is missing its badge. With a new or repaired tweeter and a crossover recap these will be in very good working order. With a basic cabinet refinishing they will look outstanding. Acoustic Research AR 2ax. One pair of all original speakers. Serial numbers 38,728 & 40,611. These speakers were suspended by wire. The condition is the best I have ever seen in a pair of vintage speakers from the late 60’s early 70’s. The grills are fastened with narrow crown staples and have never been removed.
