Presenting a extra nice example of the highly aclaimed Legendary Classic AR XB Acoustic Research Stereo Turntable. One of the finest versions avaiable with Audiophile upgrades. Installed High Quality internal Tonearm wiring. Upgraded output connecting cable and ground wire. Real nice gloss black plinth with advanced thick raised platform bottom panel. Quality adjustible spikes installed for better isolation. There are also 4 Spike metal resting discs with rubber base included. Damping material was installed to all areas of subchassis surface. There is Grado black / chrome cartridge installed with a big G on the front. Acording the the colors it should be from the PRESTIGE Series. Tracking Pressure : 1.5 grams. I haven at looked at the 2 top connecting pins to determine exact model. Suppose there are colored dots on them to identify which model of the series it is. Carttidge Details off the Net. A Grado cartridge with a “G” on the front and a black-and-chrome (or black-and-silver) body is almost certainly a model from the Grado Prestige Series (such as the Prestige Black, Green, Blue, or Red). The “G” does not stand for the cartridge’s specific model. It is just the main company logo for Grado Labs. Because the bodies of the Black, Green, Blue, and Red cartridges look completely identical, the exact model is determined by tiny colored dots (usually found on the top pins where the wires connect) or the color of the writing on the stylus itself. The model tiers from base to best in this specific style are. Black: Entry-level, great warm sound but an older/simpler metal needle inside. Green: A step up; built to slightly tighter quality rules than the Black. Blue: Offers better clarity and tighter controls. Red: The highest level of this specific black/chrome design. The Dustcover is real nice. The Original clear plastic stylus scale included with the box. All these upgrades brings a already excellent turntable to another high performance level. This may be the ULTIMATE AR XB Turntable. I WOULD NOT WANT TO SEE IT GET DAMAGED IN ANY WAY.

Up for sale is a pair of Acoustic Research AR-11b three-way loudspeakers in great working condition. These are the classic late-70s successors to the legendary AR-3a, and this pair includes the rare, early-production YELLOW-CAPPED (yellow dome) tweeters – the version collectors specifically seek out, widely considered the best-sounding tweeter AR fitted to this series before switching to the later black domes. Fully functional – all drivers tested and working properly on both speakers. Woofers FRESHLY REFOAMED – new surrounds, ready for decades of service. Rare yellow-capped 3/4 dome tweeters, both original and working. Cabinets structurally solid and in great physical shape – no loose joints, chips, or damage. Finish needs refinishing/restoration – wear visible in photos; a great candidate for an easy veneer refresh. Original foam grilles were replaced at some point – current replacement grilles are shown in photos (the original AR foam grilles from this era commonly deteriorated and are rarely found intact). Please review all photos carefully – they are of the actual speakers and part of this description. Type: 3-way, 3-driver acoustic suspension loudspeaker. Woofer: 12 acoustic suspension (freshly refoamed). Midrange: 1.5 hemispherical dome. Tweeter: 3/4 hemispherical dome (rare yellow-cap version). Frequency Response: 27 Hz – 30 kHz. Weight (each): approx. Acoustic Research invented the acoustic suspension woofer and the dome tweeter, and the AR-11 line represents the refinement of both. The AR-11b uses an improved version of the 12″ woofer that started it all, paired with the famous hemispherical dome midrange from the AR-3a and AR’s improved 3/4″ dome tweeter. The result is deep, flat, honest bass and the smooth, wide-dispersion top end AR was famous for. The early yellow-dome tweeters found on this pair are increasingly hard to find in working condition – many surviving AR-11s have had them replaced with later or aftermarket domes. These are all original. With the woofers freshly refoamed and everything working as it should, these are ready to play – or refinish the cabinets and have a truly stunning pair of classic American loudspeakers. The Acoustic Research AR90 is one of the most celebrated floorstanding speakers ever produced. Designed in the late 1970s under Teledyne’s stewardship of the AR brand, the AR90 was AR’s flagship 4-way loudspeaker system and represented the pinnacle of their acoustic suspension engineering. Featuring a 12″ woofer, a 6″ lower midrange, a 2″ upper midrange dome, and a 3/4″ tweeter, the AR90 delivers a remarkably coherent and musical soundstage that few vintage speakers can match. Its wide frequency response, tight bass reproduction, and smooth highs made it a reference-class speaker in its day and it remains highly sought after by audiophiles who know what they’re listening to. These are working, fully functional AR90s that have been actively enjoyed in a real hi-fi system. I’ve been running them with a NAD preamp/amp stack and they sound absolutely phenomenal: detailed mids, tight and extended bass, and smooth highs with zero distortion or rattling. That said, I want to be fully transparent. The foam surrounds on the woofers have some tears and small holes. This is extremely common on AR90s of this era as the original foam degrades over time. Despite the surround condition, both woofers are functioning and the bass response remains strong. Cabinets show age-appropriate cosmetic wear consistent with vintage speakers from this era. All drivers produce sound, tweeters and midranges are in great shape. What You’re Getting. This is a rare opportunity to own a pair of genuine AR90s, a speaker that competes with and often beats modern speakers costing several times more.
