They have been well-cared for in a smoke-free home. Driver 1: Excellent original condition, no damage. Driver 2: Features a 4-inch tear from a signal surge that has been repaired with flexible rubber/vinyl adhesive. Both drivers have been fully tested. There is NO voice-coil rub or scratching. They sound clear and perform well.

Dust cover smashed, but surrounds seem to be in good shape. Stable ohm reading on right woofer, left woofer was all over the place. I’m not an expert so please ask me for more details or guide me through more testing you would want to see performed.

U p for sale is a Vintage Rare Acoustic Research AR 401-28 10″ Woofers / 4 1/2″ Mids / Dome Tweeters / Crossovers Includes Original Screws and Signage all in Working Condition. Lot came from Heathkit AS-2A Acoustic Suspension Loudspeaker System Speakers. Speakers were tested at Soundwerks Vintage Audio in Phoenix AZ. Key Specifications (AS-2A / AR-2). 3-way, Acoustic Suspension Loudspeaker System. Two 5 cone midranges. 1.375 dome tweeter (some variations used different tweeters/supertweeters). L-C network, 1000 Hz crossover point. +/- 5dB, 40 Hz – 15,000 Hz (or up to 20kHz in some versions). 15 ohm 20% 4 watt tweeter level control. My descriptions and numerous clear pictures are absolutely accurate and I do my best to be perfectly clear and concise.

Vintage Acoustic Research AR 2x Speakers. Cabinets have Original AR finish and grilles / tweeter level pots, woofers, and crossovers were rebuilt. Drivers are sealed with original gaskets and flexible sealant were needed. Top Quality Restoration Work. I did the best I could to get them back to their original looks, performance, and sound = SOUND GREAT! The work was done FALL 2025 and the speakers have 1-2 hours of use after the rebuild. They will sound better with use (after initial break in period) as the new woofer cone surrounds loosen up.
