Recap Kit for Acoustic Research AR-11 AR11 Speaker Crossovers MPT Film Caps

Up for sale here is this recap kit for a pair of Acoustic Research AR-11 speakers. This will let you completely recap a set of two (2) AR-11 speakers. These are brand new Supertech MPT (metallized polypropylene film) capacitors, which are super-high-quality and will sound nice and clear. There are two 72 uf capacitors, two 50 uf capacitors, two 40 uf capacitors, and two 10 uf capacitors. The old caps are pretty bad by this point, but these new film caps will get your speakers singing again! These are fairly easy to install as long as you know what you’re doing. You will need a decent soldering iron, solder, a Philips screwdriver, wire cutters, and a hot glue gun or rubber cement to aid in mounting the caps. There are two different AR-11 crossover variants–one uses a 72 uf cap and a 50 uf cap in parallel, and one uses a 120 uf cap. Either way, the 72 uf cap and 50 uf cap in this kit will work nicely to replace the original cap(s). Please note that the new capacitors are much larger than the old ones, because they are so much higher-quality. They will still fit just fine, since there’s plenty of room inside the speaker cabinets. If you have any questions, please ask. Looking for more parts? I have power switches. White LED fuse lamps. Shims For Centering the 2 Voice Coils (woofers). Two 3.25 Screen (thin fabric) Dust Caps (mids). Four 2.75 Screen (thin fabric) Dust Caps (woofers). 1 Big Bottle of Specially Formulated Foam Surround Adhesive. It can be difficult to refoam a speaker without removing the dust cap and inserting the plastic shims. The plastic shims are used to center the voice coil and cone assembly while the speaker is being refoamed. If you do not use the plastic shims, the voice coil may be off center and it may lead to the voice coil rubbing. The 8 mid-bass has a paper dust cap under the screen dust cap, so you can either center it by hand (not cutting off the screen dust cap and not using shims) or what we do is cut the screen dust cap off first, then cut the paper dust cap almost off (u shape), flip it up and insert the shims. When the refoam is done, remove the shims, glue back down the paper dust cap and then glue down the new 3.25 screen dust cap that is provided with the kit. Acoustic Research AR2 Speakers Original Condition Including Oil Caps 1960-1964

AR2 speakers in this condition do not come up very often. They have been in my personal collection for many years. The condition in all aspects is exceptional. There is TYPO on green tape listing serial #’s see back picture for proper serial. Oil Caps tested OK and wirewound old style pots were perfect. The woofer installed is the famous Alnico 10 Inch with cloth surrounds. Woofer spyders and baskets re-glued and sealed with Vintage AR Surround sealer. Grills, cabinets and badges are in fantastic condition. The finish is remarkable. Do some research to see what folks say about this model. If you like natural sound and are a fan for strings this speaker is for you. Make someone Happy this season, maybe yourself. Packaging is extensive and safe. Each speakers is packed separately and will require signature upon arrival. Legendary and needing no introduction , the AR LST (Laboratory Standard Transducer) has been the flagship of Acoustic Research and unparalleled in outstanding sound, from bass that you could feel to the shimmer and airy-ness that only a set with restored/rebuilt original tweeters can produce. They are so vivid, lifelike and room filling. This was the pinnacle of the Golden Age of HiFi. The stands are not included, I need these for my other pair of LSTs. Absolutely outstanding in sound, from bass that you could feel to the shimmer that only a set with rebuilt original tweeters can produce. I promise you that if you have heard a set of AR3as recently without rebuilt tweeters, and thought their presentation on the high end was lacking, please forget that. The sound from the entire listening spectrum on this set is extremely well balanced and natural. When AR3as like these are properly restored (which both of these are) you would be absolutely hard-pressed to beat the sound that these speakers can produce. To summarize the restoration process, see below. Restored original tweeters utilizing my proprietary process which has been accredited throughout the Internet by top AR enthusiasts within the relevant forums. These woofers are AR issued replacement woofers installed in the 1990s. Restored and working controls, no dropouts or dead spots. These controls were replaced by AR in the 1990s, correct pots of course. New top quality film capacitors in the tweeter and midrange networks, while utilizing original Sprague Comulytic woofer shunt capacitors. Finely sanded and oiled cabinetry, displaying the complex and rich grain in the original walnut veneer. Being original, they show some bumps and indentations scattered about, but see the pictures of their glorious presentation. They display extremely well and can proudly adorn elegant atmospheres. New grill cloth of the proper 18 count lambswool, installed precisely and taught, with the addition of Velcro to be able to remove the grills at will.
