Great sounding pair of the venerable AR 2a speaker. The drivers are original and in good condition. The woofer surrounds are cloth so no rotting. I sanded the wood and applied Watco Danish oil. Then 2 coats of clear polyurethane.

Acoustic Research AR-2X Speakers Super Rare Limited Production Super Sounding

These are the early model type using the AR4. Later models used the AR4X Tweeter. They have been in my personal collection for many years. These Speakers are amazing The Bass is incredible and the clarity and presence is superb. The condition in all aspects is exceptional. New CAPS, reconditioned Pots to original performance. Woofers spyders and baskets re-glued sealed with Vintage AR Surround sealer. Grills, cabinets and badges are in fantastic condition. Make someone Happy this season, maybe yourself. Packaging is extensive and safe. The bass line is, as we have come to expect from AR, exemplary; well-defined and clean. The highs are quite open strong fundamental bass to just below 40 Hz response upward from here is uniform, smooth and remarkably well dispersed all about the speaker. Clean, balanced and wide range. From under 50 cycles to beyond audibility this speaker will reproduce what is fed to it with clarity and with honesty. Its strengths lie in an unusual smoothness and lack of any harshness whatsoever. Acoustic Research AR4X great sounding speakers full working order

For sale pair of Acoustic Research AR4X 2 way speakers. They have the early more desirable Alnico magnets on the bass drivers, also the cloth surrounds which does not perish. I had to get to the troublesome rheostats which oxidise and then stop the tweeters from working. Following info from the web I have resoldered the rheostats so they are still in line but the tweeter has a direct connection, this way the tweeters will give a good strong solid sound without trouble. The cabinets are in amazing condition with one notable faded part, but in whole they gorgeous and superb for their age. They grille has some small tears where I had to remove them, both badges are present. For those who dont know AR Speakers are renowned for giving a very natural neutral sound, they give great imagery and sound far greater that their humble appearance. Please google for how well thought and appreciated these speakers are. Type: 2 way, 2 driver loudspeaker system. Recommended Amplifier: 15W (minimum). Bass: 1 x 8 cone. Acoustic Research AR92N refoamed rare great sounding speakers

For sale a lovely pair of Acoustic Research AR92N 3 way speakers. Just had them refoamed so good for another 40 years. The 92 is a rare model and a big brother to the more common smaller models. There are 2 switches on the back if you wish to enhance or reduce the mid and high registers. One of the wire sockets at the back has been changed. There are some worn spots on the grilles but still look OK. Being rated at 200 watts (real watts not music centre watts) they can deliver a punch and the bass is rock solid. There are a few chips in the real wood veneer and the previous owner rubbed down some sections on the back before aborting his restoration. Typical great build quality. 3 way 3 speaker acoustic suspension system. Output sound pressure level. 4ohms (a minimum of 3.2ohms). The continuation maximum input 125W. The maximum input 200W. Crossover frequency 700Hz, 7.5kHz. Mid-Level control Three-step switching. High region: Three-step switching. Width 356mmx height 797mmx depth of 290mm.
