One tweeter for the AR-3a and AR-LST with the front wired configuration. We initially have two available. We are now offering a repair service for these. These are two we have rebuilt with a new voice coil, fabric dome that snaps back should you inadvertently bump it, new suspensions internal and external, new long leads for installation and a replacement mounting flange. These early production tweeters had rather soft mounting flanges which often distorted when installed. We have added new stiff flanges to the rear. These are then tested with test equipment and a music source.

This is for a new, replacement Fabric Dome Highrange Driver (Tweeter) for the AR-3, speakers. Although we have been offering a Rebuild Service for the AR-3 Tweeter for several years, we have found some impossible to repair. Sometimes the break in the voice coil is not accessible, sometimes the suspension material has seeped so deep into the magnet gap and hardened that the voice coil can not be removed in one piece. Other times, the voice coil is unraveling. With respect to AR, they are over 50 years old! We have installed this replacement for many customers and are now adding it to our listing. The dome is large like the original, emulating the radiation performance. This is a direct drop in to the existing tweeter opening, using the original tweeter screws. A special crossover has been added to the rear of the tweeter so that the performance closely matches the original. Now will be a good time to replace the original, troublesome Level Controls. Replacements are available in Dept. Recall that your crossover capacitors are also over 50 years old and out of spec. Unless you install this along with a rebuilt original or as a pair, your old tweeter is going to be much lower in volume and clarity. However, the rear Level Control can usually be used to obtain a good balance. New gray cabinet sealer is available in Dept. OTHER SPEAKER SERVICE PARTS. You will find the original to be dried out and hard to reform. AR speakers require sealed cabinets to achieve those low bass notes they are famous for. Don’t short change your speaker by trying to use the old sealer. Please browse our entire store. We have over 200 items for the AR fan and are continuing to add new items. If you would like to be advised of new and exceptional items along with our sales, please sign up for our Newsletter.

One 10 inch woofer for the three AR speakers listed above. The surround has been replaced with new foam of the correct size and flexibility. A new dust cover is installed. This was then tested with test equipment and a music source. Enjoy a woofer as it was fresh from the factory.

ACOUSTIC RESEARCH RECEIVER, MODEL R SERIAL NUMBER R03003. The owner of VINTAGE-AR PARTS & SERVICE is an electrical engineer and has been restoring AR Electronics for about 20 years. Repairs are not just made but the unit is tested to the complete set of factory specifications. Components in any area that fall short of the spec. Are replaced with new parts. A full test report is produced for our customer and a copy held in our file. Including the Tuners and Amplifiers, this is the 100th AR Electronics restored. This Receiver was originally obtained in 2009 and placed in our collection of AR Electronics. On 4/28/2020 it was pulled from inventory and retested in anticipation of listing it in our store. We have finally had a few minutes to make it available. Service had included: painting the metal cover, replacement of the power cord, re-gluing the rear serial # plate, replacement of 7 capacitors, cleaning and lubrication of all switches and controls. DC Offset 4-10x better than spec. Residual noise is 2x better than spec. Frequency response is significantly better than spec. Although, we are not taking in anymore repair orders, we will continue to offer repair of prior sales. FM Sensitivity 2.0 microvolts or better. Signal to noise ratio 65db. Distortion less than 0.25%. Capture Ratio 2db or less. Power Output 60 watts per channel, 4 ohms. Dimensions 16 5/8 x5 x 11 1/8 inches. This is in exceptionally nice condition. There are no scratches or dings (excepting a few slight scratches on a few control knobs). AR did not always apply gold anodize to all switch knobs parts. We have applied gold anodize paint to the Mode Switch and Balance Control knobs center inserts for cosmetics. A few comments from reviews when released for sale: It is.. An unqualified success, a truly excellent and unimpeachable amplifier, ;at 20%more than rated power, the distortion must be counted as the best we have seen. The amplifiers’ power is staggering. Personally, I love the simplicity of the design, the clever design to minimize power supply feed through, the smooth transformer coupled output with great bass response while having all key functions of a great amplifier and lastly an individual component design still serviceable after 50 years. TOTALLY RESTORED PAIR OF ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-LST SPEAKERS by VINTAGE-AR. THESE ARE EXCEPTIONAL IN ALL WAYS. FOR VERY SERIOUS MUSIC APPRECIATION. Our restoration objective is to return a pair of speakers to as like new condition as possible. They must perform to the original AR specifications and the cabinets must be suitable for display in your music room. We generally have a customer waiting for a pair of these. It’s been 3-4 years since we have listed a pair for sale. This is the last pair we plan on restoring. The woofers have new surrounds and were replaced and the voice coils centered by AR. Why is this important? Tweeters and mids are rear plug-in terminal design, allowing easy replacement if ever necessary. Also, late production crossover capacitors are Sprague Electric which measure like new and we have never found a failure. Only one cabinet has the Serial number tag, #2226. All drivers were individually tested with test equipment and a music source. The tweeters were tested against a “like new” reference and three rebuilt with new voice coils and suspensions. Even, the fuses have been replaced with New Old Stock originals. The grille frames and cloth are our new reproductions. The cloth is an off white imported linen with the little “slubs” that run up and down the cloth. The logo plates, Spectral Balance Control plates and control knobs are original and excellent. The cabinets have been completely refinished, lightly sanded, stained, new oil finish applied and hand rubbed. A few scratches remain on the bottoms. Otherwise, the cabinets are perfect, with nice sharp corners and hand rubbed to a silky finish. We have taken critical pictures so you can judge the condition yourself. Extensively tested with test equipment and a music source. You will be impressed. From AR: The AR Laboratory Standard Transducer was designed for professional applications. It offers the recording engineer a quantitative standard for the monitoring of recording and mix-down operations. In addition the LST offers a choice of six different energy output characteristics. One of these profiles is as flat as the state of the art permits, from 30 to 20,000 Hz. It can handle power peaks to 553 watts without distortion while furnishing an output level of 112dB. In the 60s these filled Grand Central Station with Holiday music. 12 inch acoustic suspension woofer, four 1 1/2 inch midrange hemispherical domes, four 3/4 in. 4-16 ohms depending on switch position, weight 90 lb. Dimensions 27 1/8 x 20 x 9 3/4 in. The item “ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-LST SPEAKERS, TOTALLY RESTORED & GUARANTEED” is in sale since Monday, December 17, 2018. This item is in the category “Consumer Electronics\Vintage Electronics\Vintage Audio & Video\Vintage Speakers”. The seller is “vintage-ar” and is located in Albany, New York.
