ACOUSTIC RESEARCH RECEIVER, MODEL R SERIAL NUMBER R03003. The owner of VINTAGE-AR PARTS & SERVICE is an electrical engineer and has been restoring AR Electronics for about 20 years. Repairs are not just made but the unit is tested to the complete set of factory specifications. Components in any area that fall short of the spec. Are replaced with new parts. A full test report is produced for our customer and a copy held in our file. Including the Tuners and Amplifiers, this is the 100th AR Electronics restored. This Receiver was originally obtained in 2009 and placed in our collection of AR Electronics. On 4/28/2020 it was pulled from inventory and retested in anticipation of listing it in our store. We have finally had a few minutes to make it available. Service had included: painting the metal cover, replacement of the power cord, re-gluing the rear serial # plate, replacement of 7 capacitors, cleaning and lubrication of all switches and controls. DC Offset 4-10x better than spec. Residual noise is 2x better than spec. Frequency response is significantly better than spec. Although, we are not taking in anymore repair orders, we will continue to offer repair of prior sales. FM Sensitivity 2.0 microvolts or better. Signal to noise ratio 65db. Distortion less than 0.25%. Capture Ratio 2db or less. Power Output 60 watts per channel, 4 ohms. Dimensions 16 5/8 x5 x 11 1/8 inches. This is in exceptionally nice condition. There are no scratches or dings (excepting a few slight scratches on a few control knobs). AR did not always apply gold anodize to all switch knobs parts. We have applied gold anodize paint to the Mode Switch and Balance Control knobs center inserts for cosmetics. A few comments from reviews when released for sale: It is.. Personally, I love the simplicity of the design, the clever design to minimize power supply feed through, the smooth transformer coupled output with great bass response while having all key functions of a great amplifier and lastly an individual component design still serviceable after 50 years.
