This is for a new, replacement Fabric Dome Highrange Driver (Tweeter) for the AR-3, speakers. Although we have been offering a Rebuild Service for the AR-3 Tweeter for several years, we have found some impossible to repair. Sometimes the break in the voice coil is not accessible, sometimes the suspension material has seeped so deep into the magnet gap and hardened that the voice coil can not be removed in one piece. Other times, the voice coil is unraveling. With respect to AR, they are over 50 years old! We have installed this replacement for many customers and are now adding it to our listing. The dome is large like the original, emulating the radiation performance. This is a direct drop in to the existing tweeter opening, using the original tweeter screws. A special crossover has been added to the rear of the tweeter so that the performance closely matches the original. Now will be a good time to replace the original, troublesome Level Controls. Replacements are available in Dept. Recall that your crossover capacitors are also over 50 years old and out of spec. Unless you install this along with a rebuilt original or as a pair, your old tweeter is going to be much lower in volume and clarity. However, the rear Level Control can usually be used to obtain a good balance. New gray cabinet sealer is available in Dept. OTHER SPEAKER SERVICE PARTS. You will find the original to be dried out and hard to reform. AR speakers require sealed cabinets to achieve those low bass notes they are famous for.
