Storage locker find; Vtg Acoustic Research AR-3A 2 Midrange 2 Tweeters 2 Crossovers for Restoration and or parts (I ran out of room in the main title), I removed these from the original cabinets as there were several nick/scuffs, scratches, please check out the pics as there is information on yellow post it notes, also included are original mounting bolts for tweeters/midrange speakers, along with the (horseshoe shaped) brackets and screws for all (4) original capacitors, I used a Fluke 75 multimeter to check out Ohms on tweeters/midrange, test results are as follows; tweeters are; 3.1 and 6.1, these both sound great yet the one that tests at 6.1 has me stumped? Domes on both are in great shape, midrange are; (1) at 3.5, (2nd) one at 6.8 – 7.32 (strange) no consistency on 2nd one, the 1st one sounds great, the 2nd one (no sound at all), the Potentiometers and or Rheostats on (1) crossover need replaced, quite possibly on (both) crossovers, additional info in main item description. The potentiometers on (1) crossover network do not have a (start/stopping point) when adjusting for Increase/Decrease, a couple of small brass (internal parts) fell out of these potentiometers, and the potentiometers on the 2nd crossover network appear to have that (feel) when adjusting the Increase/Decrease on this crossover network, when this was in the original cabinet the potentiometer performed very well, yet considering the age of these (1973) and from setting idle in the storage locker for approx. The information (labels) on the back of each AR wooden cabinet read as; EIA 561 73 51, and 10/73, the serial numbers for each speaker read as; 84583 and 84594. It appears the tweeters and mids have same (duplicate) numbers on them; 561 7350 and 572 7344. I hope I have provided enough correct information for my fellow eBayers to check out, these are great future candidates for restoration/parts to place in some AR cabinets, and or replace in other original AR cabinets. Note; the thin layer of paper on the (face) of the crossovers has separated which also removed some of the original black paint too.
