New replacement grilles, patterned from an original AR-3 grille, complete with replacement grille cloth just like the original cloth along with new logo plates. This is for a pair. Early AR-3 grille frames were made of hard black plastic and slipped under the top and bottom ends of the cabinet. Later production utilized a fiber board frame that sat in the opening and was glued in place but did not slip under the ends. Either way, if you had to remove them, it’s very likely that they broke in the process. What we offer is a fiber board frame design and provide the instructions and adhesive to mount them in your existing speaker opening. Without impacting the acoustics, we strengthened the frames. Additionally, we used a higher strength fiber board material vs. The weaker fiber board AR used. The grille cloth is a white linen material with the little “slubs” (heavy pieces of thread) running up and down the grille. It has taken us six years to locate a source for importing this material. Replacement logo plates are now being manufactured for VINTAGE-AR. The plates are the correct size and the font is exact to the AR original. The material is a brass alloy which will prevent the inevitable tarnishing that occurred with the originals. We have used an adhesive backing rather than the screws that often broke off over the years. Including the cloth mounted to the frames, the dimensions are 11 5/8 x 22 5/8 inches.
