Acoustic Research AR48b Complete Refoam Kit. This is the correct kit that fits on the 10″ woofers and the 4″ midranges. Each Refoam Kit includes all the materials needed to repair two (2) woofers and two (2) mids. Two 4″ (F4-5) and two 10″ (F10-5) Foam Surrounds. Shims For Centering the 1″ and 1-1/2″ Voice Coils. Kit Comes With Two 2.75 Screen (thin fabric) Dust Caps for the woofers. You can reuse the dust caps for the mids. 1 Bottle of Specially Formulated Foam Surround Adhesive. It can be very difficult to refoam a speaker without removing the dust cap and inserting the plastic shims. The plastic shims are used to center the voice coil and cone assembly while the speaker is being refoamed. If you do not use the plastic shims, the voice coil may be off center and it may lead to the voice coil rubbing. The midrange is small and easier to center by hand. If you want to shim the voice coil on the midrange you will need to cut off the original dust cap and glue it back down when the repair is complete. Of the cone = 7.75″ D – Inside diameter of the surround = 7.125″ 4 Midrange. A – Outside diameter of the surround = 3.813″ B – Roll ends = 3.5″ C – Roll starts / O.
