You are looking at a pair of RARE Altec 755 A Acoustic Research AR-1 Audiophile Loudspeakers These are the holy grail of speakers with the factory Altec 755A loudspeakers (designed / licensed by Western Electric). The cabinets have a mahogany finish which is in good cosmetic shape. They were manufactured when Altec and AR were making some of their best speakers. Cosmetically, these speakers are nice, but they do have marks and scratches from use and age, There is also grill damage as shown, and the cone dust covers on the Altecs have some slight damage, as well as slight creases on one cone as shown. None of the minor damage affects the sound. Sonically, the controls are scratchy, but both drivers function as expected, and the speakers sound super sweet and smooth. You need to hear them to believe the sound. These and the Altec equivalent would be a great speaker pair for the audiophile, or the perfect speakers for your listening room or home theater. There are few that we contemplate keeping and this pair was considered due to the overall condition and the superb sound. These came out of a local audiophile estate.
