Auctiva’s FREE Scrolling Gallery will enhance your listings. For sale I have a pair of vintage Acoustic Research AR-3 speakers. They are in need of refurbishing. I have tested them and they do work but don’t seem to be 100%. I noticed that both speakers do work. Both seemed to work good and sound OK with full sound range. I’m not sure the tweeters are working. On both speakers the mid and hi adjustment knobs turn but don’t seem to do very much. Cosmetically, the wood is in OK shape, solid with no cracks or major damage. There is some surface wear such as scratches but these could easily be re-surfaced if you like, since they are solid wood. Also, the front covers came off but one has a broken plastic top’frame’ bar… Could be glued as the edges touch. You get exactly what you see in the pictures. Overall size is 25″ tall, 14″ wide, 11.5 deep. Each weighs about 59 lbs! I would have liked to refurbish these myself and bring them back to the “holy grail” speakers they’re supposed to be; but I just cannot. Hopefully someone with the right skill and talent will do just that. These appear to me to be ideal candidates for refurbishment.
