ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-3A AR3A VINTAGE 1972 3 WAY SPEAKERS PAIR OF 2 #240. I believe they have crossover network issues on the pots or circuits but I cannot guarantee it. I bought these two speakers one at a time way back in 1972 so the serial numbers are somewhat different. I had them for 44 years now and it’s time to let them go. They are a 3 way speaker design with a 12 inch acoustic-suspension woofer, 1.5” dome midrange and 3/4” dome tweeter. The size of each speaker cabinet is approx. 25 by 14 by 11.5 inches. They are in near very good cosmetic condition and both speakers have been reconed and refoamed about 10 years ago. There are some small nicks all around but nothing major and some scratches on the bottoms as shown in the photos. They come with the original logos and grill cloth. Speaker #1 has some drink glass stains and other stains on top – see photos. It sounds excellent and you can hear the treble, mid range and bass ok. I suspect cross over network issues here but cannot guarantee it. Speaker #2 has some stains on the grill cloth – see photos. It only has the bass coming out of the speaker which sounds as it should. I could not hear any treble from the tweeter or any midrange sound. Again I believe the cross over network has issues with the circuit or pots. It can also be picked up in Kenosha, Wisconsin which is about a one hour drive North of Chicago or a 30 minute drive South of Milwaukee, WI. A addresses within the 48 U.
