Beautiful restored pair of Walnut Veneer Acoustic Research AR-2x speakers by VINTAGE-AR. From our extensive inventory. All drivers are original AR. Both woofers have new foam surrounds. Voice coils were centered during surrounds replacement. Both level controls have been replaced with lifetime guaranteed controls. New lifetime guaranteed crossover capacitors. New superior grille frames by VINTAGE-AR. New grille cloth , off white linen, like the original, that we use for all early AR restorations. New logo plates manufactured for us. Brass with a little gold to prevent future tarnishing, on a burgundy plastic backing. Adhesive backed and can be moved to the horizontal position if shelf mounted. The walnut veneer cabinets have been completely refinished, minor nicks filled, sanded, new finish applied and hand rubbed. The cabinets are now very, very nice, with sharp corners and a silky finish. A few minor scratches remain on the bottoms. The rear paper work is complete. We have taken pictures of all sides, tops and bottoms so you can judge the condition yourself. Serial numbers are 23460, 21995. These have been completely tested with test equipment and a music source. You will be impressed, particularly with the bass response. These are guaranteed to meet or exceed the original specifications. The AR-2x was introduced in 1971 as an economical alternative to the AR-3a. It utilizes a 10 inch woofer and 3 1/2 inch upper range. The dimensions are; 13.5 x 24 x 11.5 inches and weigh 33 lbs. It’s impedance is 8 ohms making it easier to drive than the 4 ohm AR-3a. If you like the AR-4x but would like to upgrade and extend your listening range, this would be an excellent choice. If you are considering a surround system with the AR-3a as the front channels, these would make an outstanding choice for the rears.
