Listing my Acoustic Research Classic 30 speakers. Yes, these are the Big Ones!! His living arrangement changed and it required him to downsize his audio set-up, otherwise he never would have parted with them. I have owned many speakers from manufacturers such as Klipsch, Polk, Mission, M&K, KEF, Paradigm, NHT, Infinity, B&O, Monitor Audio, Mirage, B&W, Acoustat, Pioneer Elite, Focal, Revel, MartinLogan and VMPS. These definitely rate among the best! Condition wise, ALL drivers are in excellent shape! No damage at all! No repaired surrounds, no dimpled-in dust caps, nothing! The surround’s are rubber, so no concern about deterioration as with foam ones, like on the AR9’s. The tweeters sound great, still nice and crisp. They have never been over-driven or run with cheap equipment. The cabinets are real wood, unlike most speakers built today which use vinyl laminate over particleboard. The trapezoidal shape blends nicely with traditional and modern decor; as well as discouraging people from setting anything on them! They stand well over 4ft tall (52″ to be exact), are 15″ wide, are 16 deep (with the grills on) and weigh over 150lbs each! The cabinets still display extremely well, as the pictures show. I just oiled them and the wood really shines! The front grills are in excellent condition. The frames are undamaged and the grill cloth is nice and clean. They even still have the original AR logo’s. The cabinet bases came equipped from AR with threaded inserts for use with carpet spikes, if desired. I have installed industrial-grade rubber bumpers for use on hard surface floors. I also have the original owner’s reference manual and binding post jumpers that I will include. High quality, made in the US, vintage AR speakers are getting harder and harder to find; especially in this nice of condition.
