Pair of vintage Acoustic Research AR-3 speakers. They look nice and sound good. They have early serial numbers – 08667 and 08559 (I think) from the early 1960s. The label is torn so it’s difficult to tell what the second to last digit is on one of them. The tweeters were just rebuilt and sound great. They have new High and Mid-range potentiometers. Unfortunately, I don’t think the mid-range speakers are working. There appear to be nothing wrong with them, but probably could use refurbishment. One mid-range speaker appears to be original and the other with the white center appears to be from a later AR-3. The woofers work great, but appear to be a little different. I believe all of the component speakers are original AR-3, but may not be original to these serial numbered cabinets. When I bought them about 12 years ago, they were working good, but the cabinets were in rough shape so I re-finished them not knowing that I owned vintage, desirable speakers. Some of the corners were beat up. There were also gouges in the bottoms. One appears to have a burn mark. I have tried to capture these cosmetic flaws in the pictures. Each weighs about 52 lbs.
