Great pair of Acoustic Research 3-way four-speaker AR-93Q speakers. The AR-93 and AR-94 floorstanding speakers were introduced in late 1979, and called the “High Tech” series, because most of their emphasis was on hard-core performance rather than flashy cosmetic frills. They share the design concept of the top-of-the-line AR-9 and AR-90 speakers using dual side-facing woofers in an acoustic suspension enclosure to produce fantastic bass. The 2 woofers are 8-inch and complement a forward facing 8-inch cone midrange and a one-inch dome tweeter. The lesser brother of the AR-93, the AR94, received a truly outstanding review in the October 1980 issue of High Fidelity. Are handled with clarity and verve. Very heavy and uses a wrap-around sock-style grill with top caps, a cosmetic design that Definitive Technologies, Mirage, etc. Copied some 15 years later.
