Vintage AR2ax Speaker System. I bought these from the original owner that bought them in back 1970. I had planned on replacing my Heresy’s but opted to keep them instead. One serial number is AX144573, and I cant read the other one because the label is ripped. I re-foamed the woofers and they turned out great. I did not re-cap these because I hear conflicting pro’s and cons on recapping. Some say it opens them up, some say the original caps give the AR’s their “sound”. I will leave that up to the new owner. I pulled all 4 of the pots out, pulled them apart and cleaned and lubed them. They work about 90%+. There are a few dead spots at the ends of travel. These cabinets are the nicest I have ever seen. There is not a mark, scratch or chip in them. The grill cloths are original, but in excellent condition for being 49 yeas old. I replaced the original grill glue with Velcro. These come from a non smoking house also. Both badges are intact. Do not pay until I send you a invoice. If you aren’t home, they will leave you a notice and you can pick it up at their place of business. This way everyone is covered. If I say “item is in mint condition or in excellent condition”, that is my opinion and not a collector’s or expert’s opinion. It might not be up to your “mint” or “excellent” standards.
