ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR-2ax Speaker Pair. I obtained this pair of speakers some years ago they were going to be trashed because of the fried woofers. I planned to completely restore them, but only got around to changing the pots and having the woofers repaired at the time. The woofers were reinstalled with rubber foam gasket material this would make it easier to remove the drivers in the future to change the capacitors. Partially restored as follows. Alnico woofers reconed by Simply Speakers in Florida. Original controls replaced with L-pads. Please study the images for condition. The chips in the veneer shown are on the back edges and corners, really not so noticeable from the front. I had planned to repair these as part of my restoration. Badges are not included, they were missing. The fabric is soiled, but otherwise intact. The frames are not broken. Original paperwork is on the rear of the cabinets. Serial numbers: AX97131 & AX97151. They have been in use off and on in my cellar system since they were repaired. They play well, components in each cabinet are balanced and sound quite nice. They compare very favorably to other AR speaker pairs I own. Have retired and do not quite have the ambition I used to. Each carton will weigh about 60 pounds.
