One Pair Matched Speakers – Please read this full listing. The AR-4x is the successor of the prior popular AR-4 Model made by Acoustic Research Company. The AR-4x originating and coming out in late 1965 and early 1966 and beyond. The AR-4x originally had 2 1/2? Tweeters. The AR-4x received outstanding reviews and is even today famous for its sound quality. The AR-4x model was changed to the AR-4xa speaker by the Acoustic Research Company around the 1973, which were not well received overall. While some AR-4x units were finished with a walnut veneer and white cloth speakers, the favorite among users were actually the unfinished birch or pine cabinets. The company was never sure why this was excepting the fact that the company surmised the owners would rather finish the speaker cabinets to their own taste or match their home decor. Vinyl LP players of the era favored the sound coming from the AR-4x. I took pictures of sides and want tp note the top and bottom are in similar condition. These are heavy and well made. I would class these as shelf speakers. I found these on a back shelf in my heated and air conditioned workshop. They were setting on the back shelf in sealed garbage bag for a long time. That was until I moved and opened up the bags they were sealed in. I “kind of” remember them and having them in my Library Room at one point in time. However it has been so long ago and so many other stereo systems since then. I pretty much remember zero about them or why I switched out or anything other wise with regards to them. 19 inches tall and 10 inches square. Please remember that Vintage and Antique items will show some wear, blemishes, and imperfections that they have acquired though the years. Old magazines, books, publications, booklets and manuals may come with wear, age spots & page discoloration. Some may have a slight age or. It’s a natural process. I collect or have collected many Vintage items over the years and I personally feel this adds to their character, charm and shows that the background and history of the pieces as being authentically old and thus making them more in demand, collectable and desirable to those that enjoy and/or collect them. Remember that even a vintage item in really good condition is old and it may not function as well as when it was originally made. Plastic type and other items can change color and/or weaken over time because of light, pollutants, heat, humidity and other items in the air. So if you intend on using a Vintage item, please be aware of this, and be careful. We can not control how you use them. They may be more subject to breaking just because of the fact they are old.
