This is a pair of the original AR-4 loud speakers. There is much information available about the speakers on the web. They were produced for only one year at the outset of the AR-4 speaker run. We’ve had a chance to listen to them and especially on classical and acoustic music they create a sound stage that will take you by surprise. There is no booming bass, strident mid-range, or hot high end. To hook you, rather they are neutral and accurate. This pair has been well taken care of. The walnut veneer cabinets are in near mint condition. The walnut veneer still has the luster of new condition. The tweeter level controls are showing their age (see additional notes below), but we were able to find sweet spots on each for the listening test. Please understand that with proper attention paid to the cross over/level controls these speakers can be made as new or perhaps with carefully chosen modern technology, even improved.
