Vintage 1974 Acoustic Research AR LST speakers in very good condition. Originally designed for professional use, the LST was the company’s most advanced system. They were produced in limited quantities from 1971 to 1976. Output can be controlled at six different levels. Audioholics recently voted the Acoustic Research line the top most influential speakers of the last 50 years: In 1971 AR introduced the AR-LST (L aboratory S tandard T ransducer), a 9-driver multi-paneled speaker whose mission was to deliver the widest, flattest frequency response over the broadest possible forward-facing area. Marketed as a professional monitor speaker with precisely-known, extremely-high performance attributes (thus qualifying it, in ARs view, as a reliable scientific instrument for research and studio applications), the LST nonetheless found its greatest success among well-heeled audiophiles of the day. Woofers were recently refoamed and new dust caps were installed. A previous repair was also made on one of the speaker cover frames (see last pic).
