Vintage Pair Acoustic Research AR-2 Speakers – Working – See Details. Some important notes – You can see from the close-up pics that one woofer has a flat dust cap and the other has a dome shaped dust cap. I thought about pulling the woofers to take a peek at the driver to see part #’s, etc. , but, if you are familiar with these speakers, they are sealed very tightly and it just didn’t seem right to take them apart. Both tweeters work and sound great. Both woofers work and sound great overall, BUT , sometimes, not always, there is a little extra vibration (at higher volumes and more bass heavy songs) from the woofer that is in the speaker to the right in the first two pictures (the one that has the dome shaped dust cap). Like I said, it is not always and there are many songs where I can’t even make it do it. The surround on this particular woofer is very much intact, but it is a bit stiff and it would probably help to replace it. The surround on the woofer in the speaker to the left is more flexible, but it probably couldn’t hurt to have a new one at some point. The speaker grills are in great shape as you can see from the pics. The cabinets, as you can see, were varnished at one point and this has held up well. There are more than a few scratches here and there, but the boxes are, overall, in great shape. I could only post 12 pics with the listing, so I didn’t include more of the cabinets. The second to the last image is a very good representation of the the overall cosmetic condition of the cabinets. The serial numbers are B6568 & B6574.
