Acoustic Research AR LST Vintage Audiophile Speakers ORIGINAL AR-LST READ
Acoustic Research AR LST Vintage Audiophile Speakers ORIGINAL AR-LST READ!! TWO Original Series AR LST Speakers. Acoustic Research (AR) has perhaps been the number one contributor to the progression of the hi-fidelity loudspeaker as we know it today. The Bookshelf speaker, Acoustic Suspension Speaker system, Soft Dome Tweeter, and many other innovative technologies, which are still the standard today, are all the brainchild of ARs legendary originators, Edgar Villchur and Henry Kloss. The AR LST was Acoustic Researchs flagship speaker system and their crowning achievement. It was an expensive system designed for professional use in the 1960s, relatively few original LST systems were produced. It has been called an AR-3 on steroids, and perfectly demonstrates what the AR sound is all about. The LST systems stands for Laboratory Standard Transducer. It has a 12 woofer for bass with four midrange speakers and four tweeters dispersing sound in all directions. The LSTĀ“s output energy can be controlled with a switch, allowing six different levels (spectral energy profiles). Even in todays age of multi-thousand dollar speakers, the AR LSTs are truly outstanding. They are extremely clean and clear throughout the entire frequency range. The bass is deep yet very musical and detailed. The mid and high ranges are extremely smooth, revealing intricate details of recordings. With the AR LSTs you are not only getting a remarkable speaker system, but a recognized piece of audio history. Dimensions: 27 1/4 W x 9 3/4 D x 20 H. Weight: 72 lbs each unpacked. Recommended Power: 25 watts RMS. Mid Range: 4x 1 1/2. High Range: 4x 3/4. Crossover points: 525 Hz & 5000Hz. Speakers come from the original owner. Speakers are working, though they do have some issues. One speaker works great all drivers are producing sound. The woofer has the original surround and needs replacing. The woofer also needs new foam surround and the tweeters are not producing audible sound. I checked DCR on all of the tweeters and 2 of the 4 are showing 0 Ohms. The other 2 are 1.4 ohms & 2.5 ohms. IF you are familiar with the AR LST speakers it is quite common for the tweeters to fail. Nevertheless, these speakers will need work to get going optimally! Cosmetically cabinets show wear and tear. Some nice, dings and scratches are noticeable. Please see pics for details. Please note: The item pictured is guaranteed to be the actual item you will receive. _gsrx_vers_577 GS 6.7.5 (577).
