Unbelievable condition for being over 53 years old. I have been listening to them all day and can not believe how incredible they sound. The simplicity of this design and the sound they produce can not be duplicated by modern speakers. These 1963 models are Serial # U 54535 & U 54245. These are not to be confused with the other AR-2 speakers produced after this model. There is a huge difference in sound quality from these to the other models! I have owned and heard the others, these impressed me as the best of the entire 2A series. Please look closely at the pictures of these all original one owner pair! You will appreciate the care taken to preserve the condition and original integrity of these 52 year old speakers. I think it’s worth a few extra bucks, and they can’t be replaced. Acoustic Suspension, The concept which expanded the horizons of high fidelity by creating new standards of bass response and low harmonic distortion, is utilized in this moderately-prieced 4-speaker system. The 10 woofer is essentially flat to 42 cps (-10 dB at 30 cps). Harmonic distortion at 40 cps is a mere 3%. Two 5 cone units in dispersed array range from 2000 to 7500 cps. The unique AR Super-Tweeter raises the response beyond 20,000 cps. This hemispherical radiator is without rival for smoothness, low dispersion characteristics and virtually flawless transient response.
