I’ve owned several pairs of the legendary AR-9s and these do indeed stack up well against them. Please read the following carefully, as I will only answer questions about this particular pair of speakers, and only questions not already addressed in the listing. The cabinets are free of scratches and have only a few very minor dings. All drivers are completely free of any damage and work without any issues. Both amps also function perfectly without any issues at all. The foam woofer surrounds is still very stiff and firm with no signs of aging or deterioration. The mid surrounds are rubber and will never wear out. The tweeters are protected from dust and damage by a fine gauze and are mint. The foam baffle and waveguide ring around the mid and tweeter units is still good, though not mint, as seen in the photos. Nothing that will in any way effect performance. The one issue is some cat damage to the cloth on the front grills, one worse than the other. Such minor damage is difficult to photograph, but please examine the photos closely if this is an issue. There is no damage to either side grill covering the woofers. Further info on the speakers. 96 dB sensitivity, so they require very little power. Great for low powered tube amps. Sunfire internal amplifier in each speaker designed by Bob Carver. Rated 500 watts at 0.1% THD. 85% efficient, with built in excursion limiter, dynamic compressor, thermal rollback limiter, active low-frequency equalization, infrasonic filtering, and auto signal sensing amplifier turn-off. 15 polymer treated paper woofer with 4 lb magnet structure. Two-layer, long-throw 4 voice-coil with aluminum former and vented pole-piece for heat dissipation. Dual 5 1/4 monocoque aluminum/magnesium alloy mid drivers in D’Appolito configuration, housed in separate enclosure. 3/4 particle board construction with picture-frame internal bracing. One 1 titanium-dome tweeter. Two 5.25 aluminum-alloy cone midrange drivers. One 15 side-firing, acoustic-suspension woofer powered by an internal 500W RMS amplifier. 100Hz active low-pass, 24dB/octave. Passive high-pass at 120Hz, 12dB/octave. 2.5kHz high-pass, 12dB/octave. Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz, ±3dB. Nominal impedance: 8 ohms. Woofer amplifier distortion: 0.1% THD at rated output. Woofer amplifier S/N ratio: 90dB ref. Weight: 84 lbs each.
