Acoustic Research AR98 LSI walnut veneer stereo speakers. I have completely rebuilt these speakers, they look nice, sound better. I Refoamed the 12 inch woofers and the 8 inch woofers using the shim method. They are perfectly centered. I took a AR98ls crossover and upgraded it to the AR98LSI and added 3.3 ohms to the mid dome circuit and recapped them. The advantage of using the ar98LS board is its laid out better whereas the LSI board is a printed circuit board and they break when you try to recap them. It was alot of work, but the results are Outstanding. The other benefit of using the LS board is you retain the switch for the 8 inch woofer, so you can adjust 1.5 ohms to the 8 inch circuit for your preference. The Speaker grills are solid, however new grill cloth can be installed if you want them perfect. I own and have repaired AR 9’s, AR90’s, AR9LSI, AR3a’s among others, so I can say I have experience with AR speakers and how to repair them. These are Up there with the best, but since I own 2 sets of 9’s, 2 sets of 90’s , 9LSI, 3a, 50, and many sets of 98’s………. Dont miss a chance to own a rare set of Beauties that sound Terrific!
