PAIR OF VINTAGE ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR2AX SPEAKERS. All original drivers and all working. Original alnico woofers that show the year 1973 written on the tape over the magnet. Woofers have been re-foamed due to foam rot. Grills have been restored with new cloth that is very close to the original, will include the original cloths that are faded from age and one of the cloths is ripped while the other is not. Original badges have been restored by having the tarnish removed, look almost new. Original bridging wire from the T terminal to the “2” terminal are still intact. Original potentiometers are in need of cleaning but still allow signal to pass through to the midrange and tweeter drivers so speakers still function properly. Cabinets are in very good shape considering their age with out any major scratches or gouges but are definitely not perfectly like new. Serial numbers on rear of cabinets is only legible on one speaker since is torn off from the other. One of the dome tweeters is dented but still works fine without a discernible difference. See photos for details. I will pack them to withstand abuse. I currently own 12 pairs of speakers and have owned many others from Paradigm, to B&W, to Klipsch, to Mordaunt Short, to JBL, MB Quart, DCM, Infinity’s with EMIT tweeters, Magnepan, Yamaha NS1000’s. And if I was asked to sum these speakers up in one sentence it would be that these are some of the easiest listening speakers I have ever heard.
