Offered here are a pair of Acoustic Research model AR3a stereo speakers in good used condition. Included are the original retail boxes. Serial numbers are 101027 & 101288. The 12 woofers have had new foam surrounds professionally installed. While the woofers were out, the control pots on the rear panel were serviced with top quality contact cleaner. The mids and tweeters are in good shape and these enclosures sound awesome. The control pots work much better than when found, but still have some small glitches or dead spots. You can wiggle’em a little and they can be used. Cosmetic condition is used. They don’t look brand new, but don’t look beat up either. One of them does have a fairly large scratch on one of the side panels. The grills are very nice, but do show a little staining that is from the coloring in the wood frame seeping into the material over 45+ years’ Overall, the wood does look nice, but does benefit from some wood oil scratch cover etc. To bring out the best. There are a few other nicks and minor blemishes, but none that are large or significant like the one mentioned. Both speakers are missing the paper labels that would have originally affixed to the rear panels. The original boxes show a lot of wear and the bottom halves show water damage. Luckily, the speakers were not damaged, so either they weren’t in the boxes when it happened or the packing material kept them away from the moisture. The original packing was strictly corner piece styrofoam and most of those were all broken and in very poor condition. I added full sheet 1.5″ slab styrofoam to the front, back, and sides and 1″ to the bottom and top. Each box will weigh app. I take care of the service & maintenance routines and cleaning so you don’t have to do it or pay to have it done.
