I bought these from the original owner, who had that refoamed 20 years ago, but needed a rebuild again. I have the Original Boxes. I refoamed the drivers, using the shim method. I also recapped the speakers. I used Dayton NPE caps on all the circuits with some bypass caps, and Dayton Poly caps on the tweeter circuit. I lubed the switches, and they work fine. The cabinets are Beautiful, if not perfect, they are as close to perfect as your going to see after nearly 40 years. The Bottom of the cabinets are even in great shape, never in water, or dropped. The grills are in great shape. The Sound is Incredible. Super Deep lows, very open and clean midrange and super clear upper Midrange and High frequencies. There is absolutely NO Harshness anywhere in these speakers. They are extremely capable speakers, with detail you will never get in any 3 way speaker. You will hear things that you never heard before. These were and are still considered to be AR’s best speaker ever made. I have heard most all of them, and these are far more clear and detailed than all of the rest, except possibly the AR9LSI. For sale locally so listing can end at any time.
