Acoustic Research AR28S Speakers in Walnut, sequential serial numbers. 8 Drivers have been recently re-foamed to a very high standard without disturbing the dust caps, good for several more decades of enjoyment. Cabinets are in great shape for their age, a couple of scrapes, small split, the bottoms are in good shape too. The fabric is all original, as are the capacitors which tested perfect. Normally I would look to replace things but they look and sound great. I haven’t come across another pair in as good a condition as this. I’ve also been through the entire Teledyne era range of AR speakers. These produce some of the best sound thanks to the large soft-dome tweeters. Unfortunately the time has come to let go to some of my collection. You won’t find any modern speakers readily available like this anymore thanks to their sealed acoustic suspension design. Happy to answer any questions about them or give any advice regarding replacement capacitors or black grill cloth etc. Speakers can be seen and collected from Southampton (or Basingstoke with some notice).
