Vintage Acoustic Research AR3 Speakers. Very hard to find AR3 (not 3a) vintage 3 way circa 1950s acquired from original owner along with a Pioneer SX-1050 (also for sale). This was prior to the one woofer getting refoamed and spider repaired. Please note the last few pics as there was a problem with one of the woofers which was rattling at certain frequencies. Turns out the spider had cracked and needed to be replaced along with a new foam surround. The voice coil was fine. This was done by a gentleman (RoyC) that restores vintage AR. He is well known on the forums. The paperwork says 1954 I think. I decided to replace the old pots with 8ohm lpads and new Bennic capacitors. They opened the mid and high considerably and can now be properly controlled from the speaker and receiver as well. They sound awesome like vintage AR should. I bit bolder abd deeper than my AR2ax. The cabinets were cleaned abd veneer repaired. I believe they are Mahogany. They look and sound great for this vintage.
